In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Marilyn Stankiewicz Losty, PhD, MBA, MS, RN has been a contributing faculty member of Walden University College of Nursing since 2018 where she actively teaches and mentors students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. She has over 15 years of executive leadership experience as an Account Executive at Hillenbrand Industries and 18 years of higher education experience at the University of Maryland School of Nursing where she served as an Associate Professor and Specialty Director for the Health Services, Leadership, and Management track. Additionally, Dr. Losty worked as a Nurse Case Manager at the University of Maryland R. Cowley Shock Trauma Center. In this role, she was primarily responsible for identifying appropriate providers and services for trauma patients across the continuum of care. She is an author of over 35 publications addressing the importance of leadership in health care. Her research interests include the professional development of women in leadership roles, such as nursing and education.
Dr. Losty holds a PhD from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in Public Policy; an MS from the University of Maryland School of Nursing; an MBA from the University of Baltimore, and a BSN from Carlow University in Pittsburgh, PA.
