Maria Delgado

Dr. Carmen Tejeda-Delgado was born in Texas.

Dr. Tejeda-Delgado began her career as an educator in public school where she has nine years of experience and held the positions of Curriculum Instruction Advisor as well as classroom teacher in General, Bilingual and ELL settings.
In 2006, she joined an elite team of educators at Texas A&M University – Kingsville as a Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling. In that capacity, her responsibilities included teaching in the Doctoral Education Program.
She has also worked with the Texas Education Agency and The Texas A&M University System as a Curriculum Specialist with the P-16 Educational Improvement Consortium in a program designed to improve Mathematics and Reading instruction across the southern region of Texas. As a Curriculum Specialist, she trained, mentored and facilitated the professional development of teachers in the areas of Reading and Mathematics.
Dr. TD, as she is referred to by her many students and colleagues, is a Tenured Professor in The College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. She is also a proud Contributing Faculty for Walden University where she teaches a host of courses in the Richard Riley College of Education. She is committed to working and collaborating with colleagues across the university as well as with partnership ISDs in a goal toward improving all students’ academic success and self-actualization as agents of social change. She is the Director of Clinical Experiences and School and University Partnerships. She is also the co-founder of the annual education conference: School University Partnership Conference for Education (SUPCE), a conference dedicated to the development of quality educators.
Dr. Tejeda-Delgado has numerous manuscripts, book chapters and grants in the areas of Educational Leadership, Bilingual Studies, Special Populations, Teacher Quality, Mentorship, Cultural Competence and Social Justice. She has presented at the national and international levels in such areas. Her passion for teaching and learning as well as her unwavering commitment to the success of all students, are the cornerstone of her career.
Dr. Tejeda-Delgado is married to her husband Antonio and together they have four children: two sons, Gilbert & Diego, and twins daughters Suzanna and Vivianna Delgado.
