In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Margaret Harvey’s education includes a MSN in nursing education and a Masters in the Art of Teaching, followed by a PhD, and her specializations include nursing education, nursing leadership, and K-12 education. Dr. Harvey has been a nurse for 35+ years and has specialized in mental health, pediatrics, community health and nursing leadership. She also has experience as a literacy educator in the elementary and high school settings.
Dr. Harvey served as nursing faculty, an Associate Dean of Nursing, a Dean of Nursing, and finally, as President of a nursing college, working in Michigan and Indiana. She has worked in nursing leadership, curriculum design, and student assessment at both online and brick and mortar schools, facilitating the academic growth of students seeking undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate degrees. Her research has centered on Autism, pediatric mental health, and she has presented at numerous conferences, including Sigma Theta Tau, and the American Nursing Association’s conferences. She was the clinical editor of pharmacology textbook, consulted on several mental health nursing textbooks, and has published a number of peer reviewed articles. Dr. Harvey is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau, the American Nurses Association, the National League of Nursing, and the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, the Indiana Center for Nursing, and American Psychiatric Nurses Association. She holds a Six Sigma green belt.
