In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Lori Wichman received her DNP in Nursing Leadership and Management at Walden University. She has served as the Director of Nursing and Emergency Medical Services at a college in her community. Dr. Wichman has been the Manager and Director of Clinical Education for a non-profit community Health Care Corporation. She is currently the National RN Program Manager of Interprofessional Continuing Education for large non-profit healthcare system. She has been a contributing faculty member at Walden in the School of Nursing since August 2018. Her teaching history includes; Foundations of Nursing, Gerontology, Community Health, Medical-Surgical Courses, Nursing Leadership and Management, Portfolio 1, Professional Roles, and Organizational Behavior at other colleges. Professionally, Dr. Wichman has worked as a nurse and staff development officer in the United States Air Force and has worked extensively on process improvement projects to improve the safety and quality of patient care projects. She has given a number of presentations on infection prevention, improving the practice of bedside reporting, and interactive teaching strategies, virtual reality in healthcare education. Dr. Wichman is an active member of the National League of Nursing, the American Nurses Association, and the Association for Nursing Professional Development. Dr. Wichman holds nursing licenses in California, Florida (mulit-state), and Alaska. She is also a licensed public health nurse in California, as well as an ANCC certified Nursing professional development specialist (NPD-BC), a Nurse Executive (NE-BC), and a nationally certified medical-surgical nurse (CMSRN).
