In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Linda F. Samuel is a Adjunct Faculty (Social Work) and licensed social worker (South Carolina) with over 20 years of professional experience prior to obtaining her PhD in Social Work (Clark Atlanta University, 2007). Dr. Samuel also holds a Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina (1990), Graduate Certificate-Gerontology from the University of Georgia (2007), and a Bachelor in Social Welfare from Social Carolina State University (1983). Her research interest includes minority health disparities, breast cancer intervention, spirituality and aging. She is a native of Dillon, South Carolina but she currently resides in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Dr. Samuel’s social work professional experience includes work in the criminal justice system, child welfare system, alcohol/drug treatment system, public health network, and healthcare system. Additionally, she actively holds professional and personal expertise in the following areas: Social Work Practice with Individuals, Families, and Groups; Gerontology Curriculum Development, Social Work Administration; Minority Health Disparities Advocacy; Caregiver Support Groups; Rural Health Education, Religion/Spirituality Research; and Women Resources Networks.
