In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. LaTanya Battle-Wherry received her Master of Science in Nursing at Excelsior College in Clinical Systems Management in December 2015 and a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Post-Master’s Certificate at Georgia College State University in May 2018. She serves as a part-time faculty in the College of Nursing at Walden University. Her tenure began in September 2020, teaching in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program. Mrs. Battle-Wherry is certified as a PMHNP through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She has taught Nursing as a Clinical Instructor at Corinthians College. Mrs. Battle-Wherry has over 21 years of experience in multiple clinical areas including Forensics, Psychiatry, Informatics, Intensive Care Unit, Oncology, and Disease Care Management. She is a member of the following organizations: Sigma Theta Tau International, The American Psychiatric Nurses Association, and The Neuroscience Education Institute.
