In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Kevin W. Glavin holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Kent State University and has been teaching and practicing for the past 15 years. He currently serves as Contributing Faculty in the School Counseling Program, within Walden's School of Counseling. Kevin has worked in numerous counseling programs across the United States, including Youngstown State University in OH, Nova Southeastern University in FL, Old Dominion University in Virginia, and the University of Colorado Denver in Denver.
Kevin is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado # C.0602047, effective from 12/04/2017 to present. His early contributions include serving as president of the Ohio Career Development Association and as Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Employment Counseling, reflecting his deep involvement in the advancement of career counseling. With a notable record of 17 peer-reviewed publications in professional journals related to career counseling and vocational psychology, Kevin has established himself as a respected voice in the field.
Kevin's association with the National Career Development Association (NCDA) has been particularly impactful, where he graduated from its inaugural Leadership Academy in 2006 and served on various committees, including the ACES/NCDA Commission, Membership Committee, and Conference Proposal Committee.
Throughout his career, Kevin W. Glavin has been recognized internationally for his contributions to career construction and the design of career interventions. His work focuses on helping individuals articulate, narrate, and shape their career paths and life stories, embodying his belief in the power of personalized career counseling to effect meaningful change.
