Dr. Katrice L. Byrd (She/Her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in the Charlotte, NC region. She currently serve as the Co-Chair for the NASW-NC Legislative Committee in addition to her full-time position as a Faculty/Subject Matter Expert training mental health providers to work with Active-Duty and Veteran Service Members and Military-Connected Clients. Dr. Byrd is passionate about serving the village through research, policy, programmatic changes, and social advocacy. She has worked as a mental health therapist with extensive training in trauma-focused interventions, working with various populations including Veterans, Active Duty, Family Members, children, adolescents, and government employees throughout her career.

In her current role at Walden University, she aims to ensure students receive relevant, evolving, diverse, learning experiences. She has been an educator, training future social workers through Leadership, Social Welfare and Policy, Diversity, Emotional Intelligence, Clinical Social Work, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Suicide Prevention, and Racial Stress & Trauma to name a few.

Dr. Byrd received her Doctor of Social Work Degree (DSW) from The University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA, and her Master of Social Work Degree (MSW) from Howard University in Washington, DC. She is a retired Veteran of the U.S. Army in addition to serving in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years.
