Degree ProgramPh.D. Public Health

Dr. Callahan is originally from Farmington, Maine, but has enjoyed travel across the United States and to several Countries. At this point, she has lived in Northeastern, Central, Western, and Southern parts of the United States, but still considers Maine ‘home’. Dr. Callahan received her Master of Public Health, with a concentration in epidemiology from San Diego State University and her Doctorate of Public Health, with a concentration in epidemiology from East Tennessee State University.
Most of Dr. Callahan’s career has occurred in South Carolina and Maine, where she worked as the manager of a statewide annual children's health survey, as a chronic disease epidemiologist reporting on child health data, as the Ryan White Part B and AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) Manager, and most recently as full-time associate professor at the University of Maine at Farmington. She has worked at the community level and at the state level in all facets of community and public health. She has experience with all aspects of program planning and implementation, daily operations, reporting, financial oversight, and grant writing.
Dr. Callahan enjoys the occasional escape from the office to enjoy the abundant nature that Maine has to offer. She looks forward to a quiet evening with a good, non-‘work-related’ book and a cup of tea. She has a love of the road and tries to take a multi-state road trip annually to see what is out there waiting for her.
