In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Simmons joined Walden in 2003 as a full-time faculty member and served as program director for the B.S. Business Administration and the B.S. Business Administration Dual Degree program with partner universities in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Panama. She also served as the program director for the M.S. Project Management, B.S Information Technology, and the B.S. Computer Information Systems. Dr. Simmons is currently an academic coordinator and supervisor for the Doctor of Business Administration program.
Prior to joining Walden Dr. Simmons had over 20 years’ experience as a project manager in information technology including positions with IBM as an executive consultant and the Vanguard Group as a systems integration manager. Dr. Simmons is a member of the Project Management Institute and a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Dr. Simmons currently serves as an academic coordinator in the DBA program, serving doctoral committees and supervising DBA faculty.
