In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Kashan Ishaq is a distinguished IT Corporate & Educational Leader, accomplished academic, and seasoned IT/Business professional leader with over 20 years of extensive corporate experience in IT software development, digital transformation, program and project management including PMO. With a proven track record of managing programs and projects worth up to $150 million, Dr. Ishaq has made significant contributions across diverse sectors, including energy (upstream, midstream, downstream), oil & gas, supply chain, legal, and insurance. His expertise includes leading transformative digital initiatives such as a global program software delivery lead for Digital Twin & AI implementations with 3D models, laser scans, 360 images, point cloud technologies, predictive maintenance, machine learning and asset information management for Shell, subsurface platform development (ingestion utilities with RESTful APis & Python in Azure Cloud Platform) for Chevron, ERP implementations (oracle unify project upgrades, Insurance automation with AI, third party compliance integration with Oracle) for Enbridge, Pre-PaaS to ADME migrations in OSDU Upstream for ExxonMobil, and groundbreaking projects for Saudi Aramco. He has worked for some of the top energy and consulting firms like Accenture and Wipro and led their digital transformation (Agentic AI development, including R&D and solution architect designing & selling) and energy practice for North America.
Dr. Ishaq recently completed continuing education at Harvard University where he completed an AI program (Leveraging Multi-sided Platforms with AI for business leaders). He has earned his PhD in Organizational-Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University Systems, Prairie View A&M University in December 2014. Since September 2023, he has served as a Contributing Faculty member in the College of Education at Walden University, where he leverages his rich background to advance the field of educational technology. His contributions include teaching, mentoring, and conducting research that bridges the gap between cutting-edge technology and educational practices.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ishaq has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to leadership and innovation in both education and corporate sectors. His experience includes teaching Educational Administration courses at Prairie View A&M University, stepping in as an academic mentor when needed, and offering STEM and leadership education through STEM to Innovate. As a campus technology trainer, he has empowered educators by training them in various educational technology tools, fostering digital literacy, and helping institutions integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning.
Dr. Ishaq’s passion for technology integration in education was further evident during his tenure as a School Principal in Houston, Texas, and as a mathematics and science educator at Fort Bend ISD and campus technology trainer at Spring Branch ISD. With over a decade of teaching, training, and leadership experience, Dr. Ishaq holds certifications as both a Principal and Teacher in public school systems. His academic achievements include a Master’s in Educational Administration and a Bachelor’s of Science in Information Systems Technology.
A visionary in digital education, Dr. Ishaq is dedicated to instilling a forward-thinking digital mindset within diverse communities and students. His career reflects a deep commitment to enhancing education through technology, making him a pivotal force in preparing future generations for success in a rapidly evolving world.
