Courses
In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.
Disclaimers: Walden students have up to 8 years to complete their doctoral program unless they petition for an extension.
In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Students must also publish their dissertation on ProQuest before their degree is conferred. Learn more about the dissertation process in the Dissertation Guidebook.

Her undergraduate degree is in History, Science, and Religion from Medaille College in Buffalo, New York. Her masters are in Education from Canisius College in Buffalo, a master’s in School Administration from Florida International University in Miami, Florida, and her third master’s is in Counseling/Sociology from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. She is a lifelong learner. Education has been a great adventure for her. Prior to assuming this role of teaching at Walden University she was the Director of Guidance at a local high school, Director of Curriculum before that and also was a Principal for twenty years and a classroom teacher. During this time, she made sure to remain in contact with students by teaching a course here and there. Whenever possible, she spends time tutoring ESE students at our local college and teaching senior’s basic computer. Her favorite things to do are swimming and reading. The season of the year dictates which one gets more of her time.
