While completing her doctoral studies in health education at Texas Agricultural and Mechanical (A&M) University, Dr. Anderson conducted research at the university’s Center for the Study of Health Disparities, a National Institutes of Health National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities Center of Excellence. This rewarding experience in community-based participatory research help shaped her research agenda that focuses on investigating and elucidating root causes of health disparities to advance health equity in maternal and child health, with special interest in preconception health, birth outcomes, and child growth/development. Her post-doctorate educational pursuits include specialist certifications in health education, health services administration, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Dr. Anderson’s prior academic engagement includes serving as Graduate Faculty at Valdosta State University, supervising public health and social work student internships for Florida A&M, Thomas, and Florida State Universities, as well as mentoring graduate students at Texas A&M and Florida A&M Universities.
