Dr. Spillman earned his PhD in Counselor Education and Counseling from Idaho State University. During his doctoral program, he focused on CACREP core areas of professional development, helping relationships, human growth & development, and group work. His major specialization areas are supervision and marriage and couple and family counseling.

He has presented at the local, state, regional, and national level for ICA, ACA, RMACES, and ACES conferences and his work has been published nationally and internationally.

Dr. Spillman is core faculty in the CMHC program at Walden University. He is passionate about the education, training, and development of professional counselors and counselor educators. He is also a licensed Mental Health Counselor and has a small private practice on the island of Maui where he works with a diverse client population.
