In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Vermillion has over 30 years of leadership experience in human services at publicly traded organizations as well as in state government and nonprofit organizations and has taught in higher education part-time since 1994. She is an Internationally Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (ICADC), a National Board-Certified Counselor, a Florida-licensed mental health counselor with a supervisor designation, a Florida-certified Masters-level addiction professional, and certified as a senior professional in human resources. Dr. Vermillion has published in national journals regarding quality, program evaluation, workforce planning, and Hoshin Planning. She has presented at conferences for various organizations that include the Association for Talent Development, National Association of Workforce Boards, the former National Association of Mental Health Administrators, and Southeast Evaluation Association.
