In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Jo-Ann Lipford Sanders.
Dr. Lipford Sanders’ formal training is in Counseling and Human Development with a minor in Marriage and Family from Kent State University. She has served in higher education since 1997 as a Professor, Program Director, Associate Dean, and Academic Dean. Dr. Lipford Sanders has taught in Tianjin, China and Sappora, Japan. Her current research interests focus on religious/spirituality, ethics, & international counseling issues that are informed by her expertise in multicultural and antiracist training. Dr. Lipford Sanders has written and received federal grants totaling $2 million dollars from U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Health Resources & Services Administration, (Behavioral Health Workforce Education & Training) and the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women. Dr. Lipford Sanders is an active member of the American Counseling Association, Association for Multicultural Counseling, Association for Spiritual, Ethical & Religious Values in Counseling, and Association for Counselor Education and Supervision and its state associations.
