Dr. J. Mahatha has over a decade of experience in mental health counseling. She has worked in clinical mental health counseling, conducting individual, group, family, and play therapy. She is a licensed mental health counselor for the state of N.C. and a licensed professional counselor for the state of Texas. Dr. J. Mahatha is also a certified play therapist. She lives near San Antonio, TX, and maintains a private practice. Her primary research areas include sexual trauma, intersectionality, and multicultural issues. Dr. J. Mahatha is a member of the American Counseling Association, Texas Counseling Association, National Society of Leadership and Success, Play Therapy Association, American Psychological Association, and the Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society.
