In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Jessica Naber’s education in Nursing consists of a Bachelors in Nursing from Murray State University, a Masters in Nursing Education from Bellarmine University, and a PhD in Nursing from University of Tennessee. She has served in a nursing faculty role for the past 17 years. Dr. Naber has taught at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky as a clinical instructor and at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky in both the didactic and clinical setting. She has taught a variety of courses, including Philosophy of Science, Theory, Research, and Capstone at the Masters and Doctoral levels. She has advised numerous Honors Thesis project and Capstone projects, as well as many independent student research studies. She is joining Walden University as a contributing faculty member in 2020.
Dr. Naber’s current research interest focuses on healthy lifestyles, particularly in the five National Geographic Blue Zones, and she has published several articles and presented in numerous venues about this topic. She has led several education abroad programs, taking nursing students to visit these locations and study the lifestyles of centenarians in the world. She has been the recipient of the Omicron Delta Kappa Faculty Academic Advisor of the Year award, the Outstanding Research Award, the Ruth E. Cole Endowed Professorship, and the Education Abroad Curriculum Award.
