In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Jennifer L. Glendening received her PhD in Nursing Leadership at Walden University in May 2020. She is an academic medical center's Assistant Vice President of Professional Development. Dr. Glendening joined Walden University as a part-time contributing faculty member in 2021. Dr. Glendening’s nursing career spans thirty years with experience in education, research, healthcare quality, Lean Six Sigma™ (LSS), regulatory management, informatics, and healthcare finance. She teaches or has taught courses in nursing leadership, healthcare quality, professionalism, and organizational development. She holds current specialty certifications in nursing leadership and healthcare quality. Dr. Glendening is an LSS Green Belt and has served as a master facilitator on healthcare projects ranging from developing clinical pathways to restructuring nurse staffing models. She has worked in clinical research with experience in developing and implementing Phase 1 clinical trials for oncology and critical care patient populations. Dr. Glendening serves on many state and national committees, including the Organization of Nurse Leaders and the New Jersey Hospital Association.
