Dr. Miles taught Computer Science face-to-face for over 25 years starting at the University of Florida. She retired from Lenoir-Rhyne University as Professor Emerita in 2013. She taught IT online since 2000 in a variety of levels and programs. She was the Director of Online Studies for the Masters Programmes of the Department of Computer Science, University of Liverpool in the UK from 2013 to 2019. She is now the Program Director of graduate programs in Technology and Applied Sciences and Doctoral Programs in College of Management and Human Potential for Walden University
All of her graduate work was completed at the University of Florida (MEd, EdS, PhD, and MS).
