Gail Augustine

Dr. Gail Augustine received her Ph.D. from Indiana University and her Bachelors and Master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. As an educator, Dr. Gail Augustine has over fifteen years of teaching experience at the higher education level. Dr. Augustine served as the MSW Program Director and has taught multiple courses both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including research method, case management, interviewing and recording, and practice with families, individuals, and groups. Dr. Augustine has practiced both nationally and internationally in the United States and Great Britain. At Walden University, Dr. Augustine teaches graduate-level courses in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Gail Augustine’s research focuses on improving marginalized populations’ access to and retention in higher education, thereby examining social-psychological barriers that intersect the learning process. Her current research focuses on cross-cultural empathetic pedagogy in the therapeutic atmosphere. She focuses on factors at the interface of multiple biopsychosocial domains, including emotional, psychological, social, and cultural contexts. Dr. Augustine’s research integrates both quantitative and qualitative methods. Dr. Augustine was a recipient of the MTCOP Joseph Taylor Chancellor Award of Excellence and nominated for the Best Teacher Award. She has served on university committees and served as the chair of search committees on several occasions. Dr. Augustine has published and presented national and international peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Augustine’s philosophy, by nature, a motivator and coach.
