Dr. Floralba Arbelo is a higher education strategic leader with over a decade of higher education experience. She has served as a dean, academic and digital program director, grants administrator, faculty, and social scientist in the United States, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Cuba, Dominican Republic, and Guatemala. Her research centers on college student success, doctoral student retention, social presence in online teaching and learning, and Hispanic Serving Institutions and has been published in the Journal of Hispanic Higher Education, International Journal of Doctoral Studies, Journal of Ethnographic and Qualitative Research, and Journal Hispanic Education and Technology, among others. Dr. Arbelo received the Women that Transcend Award for Global Leadership in Education and Community Service from the New Jersey Hand Foundation and was awarded Senatorial Citation for her volunteerism, activism, and mentoring activities among young adults and youth. She is an alum of the inaugural class of the HACU Instituto de Liderazgo Fellowship and has an earned Doctor of Education degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, a Master of Science from The New School for Public Engagement in New York, and a Bachelor of Arts from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York.
