Fannie Haughton
Fannie Haughton is a Teacher Educator.
She taught for more than 30 years in urban classrooms.
After earning a Doctorate from UC Berkeley in Social and Cultural Studies in Education, she served as a teacher educator at Santa Clara University, UCLA, and Spelman College.
As an action researcher - gathering data while actively participating with students- Dr. Haughton frequently facilitate “Jumping into Algebra” and “Gardening with Children” workshops.
Examining how culture impacts students’ academic achievement and teacher knowledge is her primary research interest.
The “Jumping into Algebra” workshops investigate ways to use student’s everyday experiences, such as Double Dutch jump roping, to teach mathematics.
