In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Cloud is a dedicated and experienced Social Worker currently serving as a vital resource for Mecklenburg County. With over eight years of experience in the field, Dr. Cloud has made a significant impact in various capacities throughout his career.
Dr. Cloud's primary role involves providing crucial HIV and infectious disease testing and counseling to individuals within the community. His commitment to public health and compassionate guidance has proven invaluable in supporting those in need. His expertise extends beyond this area, as he has also worked in outpatient mental health, adult and juvenile correctional facilities, HIV treatment centers, and the K-12 school system.
Dr. Cloud's academic journey is an impressive testament to his dedication to the field. He obtained his Bachelor of Social Work from North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. Building upon this foundation, he pursued and achieved a Master of Social Work degree from Howard University in Washington, DC. Driven by a passion for continuous growth and expertise, he pursued and completed and acquired his Doctor of Social Work from the University of Kentucky in 2022.
With a keen focus on select areas of interest, Dr. Cloud strives to make an impact on underserved populations. His areas of interest include African American males, LGBTQ individuals of color, children and families, and women of color. By honing his knowledge and skills in these areas, he aims to address the unique challenges faced by these communities and work towards positive change.
Dr. Cloud firmly believes in the power of non-intrusive methods and holistic approaches to intervention and support. He endeavors to make a difference in the lives of his clients and the communities he serves, without relying on medication or invasive techniques. By combining his expertise as a Social Worker and a teacher, Dr. Cloud seeks to impact lives one step at a time.
