Dr. Douglas Bates has been teaching full-time in academia for 2 years. He is currently a full-time professor. His previous experience before academia was as a social worker where he worked with different populations for nearly 9 years. Dr. Bates has worked with populations such as: the homeless, working-poor, teenage mothers, mentally ill, elderly and children. The majority of his work experience comes from the non-profit arena. As a social worker he served in a number of different roles from a case manager to program director.
