Diane Elmore
Dr. Diane Hoem Elmore lives in Fabulous Las Vegas area (Henderson). She has been teaching In the RN-BSN, MSN, and DNP programs at Walden University since winter of 2010. Dr. Elmore received both her PhD and MSN from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, her BSN from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, and her ADN degree from Great Basin College in Elko, Nevada. She also is nationally certified as a nurse educator by the NLN. Prior to her Nursing career, Dr. Elmore was active in hospital governance issues and served on a hospital board of trustees, chair of the hospital board and chair of the Nevada State Board of Hospital Governing Boards. She was a co-founder of both the Elko County Family Resource Center and the Elko General Hospital Foundation.
Dr. Elmore has been teaching nursing for 20 years. Dr. Elmore has taught graduate level nursing education courses in nursing informatics, community health assessment, physical assessment, research, and leadership. She has taught critical care and advanced medical-surgical nursing, community health, research, and leadership at the undergraduate level. Her current research interests are focused primarily on methods and strategies for incorporating the use of nursing theory to enhance nursing education, using technology and connected learning strategies to improve student faculty relationships in online learning., examining issues associated with the faculty-learner relationship, and organizational management issues in nursing, She is also interested in health initiatives and public policy issues that involve addressing food insecurity.
Dr. Elmore currently works for the Clark County School District. The district is one of the largest in the US (320,000 students) and is the Director of Health and Medical Professions at a technical and career academy. Additionally, she helps coordinate how medical care is addressed in Individual Education Plans for severely disabled special education students, primarily students with severe Autism, traumatic brain injuries, and severe psychiatric and uncontrolled seizure disorders.
Dr. Elmore has worked as a family nurse practitioner in an urgent care center and in a public health setting, the director of a university school of nursing, the director of nursing education in an acute care hospital, as an emergency nurse, a school nurse, a community health nurse, and a patient education nurse. Additionally, she is a member of Sigma and NLN.
