Dr. Cynthia P. Honore’-Collins earned her Baccalaureate and Master’s degrees from Southern University at New Orleans School of Social Work and her Ph.D. in Social Work from Jackson State University. She has serves on many boards including serving as President for two terms on the Board of Directors for the Greater New Orleans Fair Housing Action Center (GNOFHAC) and is currently the President of the New Orleans Association of Black Social Workers. She is also a proud member of the SUNO Alumni Association, Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (Alpha Beta Omega Chapter), and the National Association of Black Social Workers.
Dr. Honore’-Collins currently serves as a Contributing Professor with Walden University and retired from Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) where she served as the Director of the MSW Program from 2013 - 2025. She also served MVSU in the capacity of Graduate Council Chair for two terms, 2018-2022.
Before Walden and Mississippi Valley, she served as the Director of Community and Social Services and the Director of Mahalia Jackson Center with the Early Childhood and Family Learning Foundation in New Orleans. Dr. Honore’-Collins has assisted with the development of early childhood and family programming in New Orleans, Louisiana and Northern Michigan, Mahalia Jackson Center, and the Five to One Program, respectively. Dr. Honore’-Collins has authored and co-authored several articles and presented at many conferences. As an Associate Professor she has taught across the Social Work curricula in BSW and MSW Programs.
