In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Courtney Andrews, with a master’s in Public Policy Administration and doctorate in Political Science, has served as an educator since 2001. This includes more than a decade working at a local community college and extensive experience working in online education. Dr. Andrews has experience teaching courses related to political science, social responsibility, public policy and research methods. In addition to this, she has continued to practice in various capacities, in both academic and private sector environments in relation to public policy, health services and economics. Her experiences have included positions at the University of Missouri Saint Louis, Saint Louis University, Magellan Health and Taylor Policy Group. These experiences have included both quantitative and qualitative research and analysis, related to local community efforts, as well as larger scale analytical modeling and program evaluation. Past project experiences have also included geographic information systems (GIS).
Dr. Andrews currently holds teaching positions in online education, while continuing to work as a consultant for Taylor Policy Group. At Walden, Dr. Andrews serves as part-time faculty in the School of Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Studies. She has served as a subject matter expert and as lead faculty. She has also been a member of the Center’s Curriculum and Academic Policy (CAP) committee. As a consultant for Taylor Policy Group, Dr. Andrews continues to contribute to economic and policy related research for Native governments, corporations, and consortia.
