In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Clarence "Chuck" Williamson is a career public servant and educator. Dr. Williamson served for 30 years in the Guilford County Sheriff's Office in Greensboro, North Carolina, earning the Advanced Law Enforcement Service Award presented by North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper. Dr. Williamson retired at the rank of Major in 2018. Dr. Williamson currently serves as Dean of the School of Public Service and Administration at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina. He served as Interim Director of the Center for Leadership and Organizations at Anderson University. Dr. Williamson serves as a Contributing Faculty of Criminal Justice at Walden University. Dr. Williamson's research interests encompass organizational and individual leadership development, organizational change, and cultural transformation within organizations. Dr. Williamson has also served as a Lead Faculty Member and faculty advisor for the Walden University Minority Male Forum Student Organization. Dr. Williamson has over 25 years of experience in higher education instruction, teaching courses in public administration, public policy, criminal justice, leadership, and public policy and governance at the university level. Dr. Williamson serves on several dissertation committees as Chair, Qualitative Methodologist, and Content Expert. Dr. Williamson is passionate about helping students reach their academic and professional goals.
