Shuey Schumaker

Contributing Faculty
College of Health Sciences and Public Policy
Ph.D. Public Health

Dr. Schumaker was born and reared in Pennsylvania (Berks County), where he went to Kutztown High School. (For those who may not know, Kutztown is the home of the Pennsylvania Dutch Festival - a misnomer, as the residents of that area were not and are not Dutch - they're German - it's only because the English couldn't pronounce Deutsch correctly that the name evolved and stuck; and yes, I do read and speak the dialect). He has over 26 years of experience in health services administration, policy formulation and analysis, and health services research administration, and has served as a consultant to private business and to government. He has been affiliated with Walden University over 20 years. Over the years he has published some articles, consultant and research reports, authored a chapter in a text and have written manuscripts for a nationally distributed health services management audio-tape forum. His interests lie in health services administration education, health services utilization behavior, medical sociology, strategic management, evaluation research and systems approach to the study of issues. He is a life fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the American Public Health Association, a member of the Academy of Political and Social Sciences and a member of the American Sociological Association
