Ph.D. Public Policy and Administration

I have been mentoring dissertation students as a Chair and committee member since starting with Walden as Contributing Faculty in 2014. I also have the opportunity to mentor participants at academic residencies. I hold a Ph.D. in Public Administration, with a concentration in Terrorism, Mediation, and Peace, and a Masters degree in the same discipline with a concentration in Homeland Security, both from Walden University. My emergency services experience includes more than 15 years as a firefighter/EMT and instructor with the American Red Cross. I am active in the development of firefighter curricula at both the state and national levels and also work with several National Fire Protection Association committees, including those focused on professional firefighter qualifications and electronic safety equipment. One of my major accomplishments was presenting on disaster risk reduction at the United Nations. I am involved in several professional organizations, including the International Fire Relief Mission, American Society for Public Administration, International Center for Academic Integrity, International Association of Emergency Managers, National Fire Protection Association, International Society of Fire Service Instructors, Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergencies, Gender and Disaster Network, Peace and Collaborative Development Network, International Association of Women in Fire & Emergency Services, and the Home Safety Council Expert Network.
