In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Cheryl L. Anderson’s formal training is in physical therapy and health care management and leadership. Dr. Anderson earned a BA in physical therapy; MBA; and PhD in Health Services Management with a concentration in Health Policy. She spent more than 30 years in various leadership roles in the long term care industry as a rehabilitation consultant; a short time as a VA Medical Center research coordinator; and later as a health plan executive for a Medicaid health plan. She moved to adjunct faculty work in 2006.
Dr. Anderson is a Senior Contributing Faculty for Walden University. She teaches courses in the PhD in Health Services and DHA program with a focus on research theory and qualitative research. She has doctoral mentees in the PhD in Health Services; PhD in Public Health; and DHA programs for Walden. Dr. Anderson served on the Curriculum Approval Program committee for a number of years and currently is a research grant reviewer at Walden.
Dr. Anderson’s research interests include physical rehabilitation, health promotion, long term care, older adult and geriatric care, health care leadership, health plans, and health policy. She has published many articles in peer reviewed journals; written chapters for textbooks; and presented at national conferences. In 2017, she was recognized by Walden University with the Faculty Excellence of the Year Award.
