In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Shao is currently a core faculty member at Walden University, where he also serves as a doctoral committee consultant, as well as the designee of the Chief Academic Officer and Program Director in the School of Management within the College of Management and Technology. He teaches DBA residency seminars, DDBA 8300 Qualitative and Quantitative Methodology for Applied Business Research, and DDBA 8307B Quantitative Business Data Analysis Using SPSS course. Prior to that role, he taught and developed information technology (IT) courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels at the School of Technology and Applied Science. He also serves as a mentor for the Doctor of Information Technology program. Professionally, Dr. Shao has over 17 years of experience in the area of infrastructure and system design, programming, analysis, and management in both U.S. aerospace and defense sector and academic environment. His academic experience includes over 15 years of higher education teaching in the fields of business administration, computer science and engineering. Dr. Shao's research interests include: information technology strategy and management, predictive analytics for decision making, cybersecurity, web systems and technologies, telecommunications and networking management, distributed systems, cloud computing, disruptive technologies, Big Data analytics, applied artificial intelligence, data mining, financial derivatives and modeling.
