In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Charles M. Cook holds a BA in History from the University of Texas-Austin, an MA in American History from the University of Houston, and an EdD in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston. He has 30+ years of teaching experience at both the undergraduate (History) and graduate levels (courses in Higher Education policy, leadership, and community college administration). He also has 20+ years of administrative experience in roles at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Houston Community College System, and the Austin Community College District. He has presented at major higher education conferences including the American Association of Community Colleges and the League for Innovation in the Community College. At Walden, he teaches the Professional Doctoral Capstone Course.
