In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Bruce Requa, also known as Dr. Bruce, is a valued member of the DBA program faculty at Walden University. He brings a solid academic foundation with a BS in Engineering from the University of Colorado, an MBA from the University of Southern California, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from Walden University. With a teaching history that spans over 15 years at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, Dr. Bruce combines academic insight with practical experience.
His consulting experience is extensive and diverse, having worked with Ernst & Young, a national consulting firm, Revel Consulting, a regional consulting firm, BuzzBee, a local marketing agency, and operating as a solo practitioner. This varied experience has equipped Dr. Bruce with a deep understanding of different business environments and challenges, which he leverages to enhance the educational experience for his students.
In the corporate sector, Dr. Bruce has contributed to Microsoft, where he was involved in leading strategic company-wide initiatives, refined organizational processes, and facilitated cybersecurity governance initiatives. His professional journey has spanned multiple industries such as software, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and energy, reflecting his adaptable and strategic nature. His military service in the U.S. Marine Corps further underscores his leadership qualities.
Dr. Bruce's commitment to excellence extends beyond his professional endeavors. He is actively involved in the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, where he has served in multiple capacities including judge, master examiner, coach, team leader, and trainer. He has held board leadership positions including president, vice-president, and treasurer with Performance Excellence Northwest, a regional nonprofit (Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington) supporting business excellence through the application of the Baldrige Excellence Framework.
Dr. Bruce is dedicated to nurturing a supportive learning environment and is committed to helping students succeed in their research and professional goals. His blend of academic excellence, professional acumen, and advisory board experience contribute positively to the Walden community and enrich the students’ learning experience.
