In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Brenda Kulhanek has been an adjunct professor at Walden University since 2011. In addition to her senior contributing professor role at Walden, she was previously the AVP of Clinical Education for one of the largest health care systems in the United States, where she created a nurse residency program implemented in over 180 hospitals. Dr. Kulhanek was the 2017 president of the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA), and a co-found and past president of ANPD of Middle Tennessee. She is a frequent presenter at nursing informatics conferences and recently co-authored a textbook for training health information technology, has contributed to several nursing informatics textbooks, and designed curriculum for the Office of the National Coordinator (ONS) Workforce Development Program.
