In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Brenda Hudson has been with Walden University since 2014. In her role as senior core faculty member in the Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services (OASIS), she teaches doctoral-level students in the SKIL writing workshop series, for which she served as curriculum developer and subject matter expert. Prior to her faculty role at Walden University, Dr. Hudson also served as dissertation editor.
She holds a PhD in rhetoric and scientific communication from the University of Minnesota and an M.S. in journalism from Boston University. She worked as a journalist at the BBC World Service Television in London, England, and at NBC News in London and New York. Since returning to the Midwest, she has worked as a medical writer at the University of Minnesota and at the medical device company Medtronic. Dr. Hudson also teaches creative writing at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, MN and volunteers as a reading instructor for struggling students.
