In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Fox holds a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Multicultural Education from Texas A&M University. He has an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education and an M.S. in Sociology from Texas A&M University Commerce, and he has an M.Ed. in Secondary Education and a B.S. in Kinesiology from Stephen F. Austin State University. Dr. Fox has 18 years of experience in education, with 5 years of experience as a teacher and 13 years of experience in teacher education. He has served as a teacher, coach, consultant, teacher educator, and researcher. At Walden University, Dr. Fox serves as a support to doctoral candidates through their dissertation process. His research interests focus on teacher/student identity, equity and access, and critical ethnography and autoethnography. Dr. Fox serves on the board of the National Association for Multicultural Education.
