In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. r. Betsy J. Macht is retired as a global quality leader at Johnson & Johnson, a cofounder of Epotse a consulting firm providing process and compliance analysis for the pharmaceutical and healthcare manufacturing segment, and an active leader in the American Society for Quality as a section leader, co-chair of the 2023 ASQ Conference Site Committee, and member of the national level Conference Council. Since retiring she has focused on medical device technology and associated digital applications working with the AFDO/RAPS - GMLP Team to publish AI/ML category white papers, publishing AI category papers in the AMMI Array, serving as a peer reviewer for the AMMI, and participating in the AI Experts Network. She has consulted for the Digital Science regulatory and quality team of Thermo Fisher Scientific Digital Systems team leading the internal audit and supplier quality review activities for the business. At Johnson & Johnson she led the Quality Capabilities platform for the Johnson & Johnson Consumer, Q&C MAKE organization working to transform the quality organization to meet the needs of a digital future. Dr. Macht received a doctorate in business, emphasizing global supply chain management, from Walden University in 2016, and received the 2017 Frank Dilley Award for outstanding doctoral study for her doctoral study on Strategies to Influence a Quality and Compliance Culture. She received a BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University joining the early women pioneers working in the field of engineering, and an MBA, Strategies for Sustainability, from Walden University. A life-long scholar, Dr. Macht has committed to giving back to the STEM community serving on the leadership team for the NYAS STEM Scholars as a leader, speaker, and mentor. In 2016, Dr. Macht joined Walden University as a contributing professor in the College of Management & Technology as a doctoral mentor.
With over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, chemical, medical device and consumer products industries, Dr. Macht has held leadership roles in engineering, operations, capital management, project management, and compliance. She currently holds a leadership role in the Quality & Compliance MAKE organization for the Johnson & Johnson Consumer Group leading development of a strategy to define the quality organization of the future. In addition, she has lead the global quality optimization platform, lead the development of a multi-segment, global E2E Value Chain Quality strategy, partnered in leading the enterprise cost of quality strategy, and lead the quality leadership J&J production systems subgroup defining next steps to integrate quality and compliance priorities into the operations program.
Dr. Macht is a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, an ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, and is certified by Johns Hopkins University as a Covid-19 Contact Tracing professional. She also holds a certification in Sustainable Operations/Compliance from the J&J/Accenture Academy. She has been appointed a member of the Global STEM Alliance/NY Academy of Sciences program. Holding the rank of 3rd degree black belt, she is an active practitioner and instructor of Shotokan style karate with the US based Shotokan Karate Association leading the Newtown Shotokan organization; she is also a 3rd degree black belt practitioner of the Kenpo style of martial arts. As a former member of the Board of Directors, and Chair of the Governance Committee for the Fairless Hills YMCA, Dr. Macht has provided leadership to develop and implement the strategic plan increasing membership, driving financial and performance development, and securing funding in support of the Y’s future growth in the region.
