In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Andrea M. Wilson has served in many roles at all levels of the education environment from pre-Kindergarten thru graduate school. Dr. Wilson worked in the field of public education as a special education teacher and education leader for more than a decade. In that time, she designed and implemented new programs for students and teachers as well as professional development courses for educators in special education. In addition, she has been a course instructor at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the fields of psychology and education. Dr. Wilson served as a founding member and team chair of the Research Review Board for a major public school system in the Atlanta, GA area. Dr. Wilson is a published author and frequent presenter at professional conferences. Dr. Wilson's current research interests include school improvement planning, retention and success of students and faculty in online higher education, interdisciplinary approaches to research and scholarly activity, best practices in school discipline and leadership, and technology applications in education. In 2019, Dr. Wilson was the honored recipient of Walden University's prestigious Presidential Award for Faculty Excellence. Dr. Wilson's combination of education and experience in the fields of psychology and education allows her to bring a unique perspective to research, teaching, and mentoring activities.
