In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.

In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Dr. Alicia C. Moore is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor in Texas and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and Nevada. She is the owner and Clinical Director of Passionate Path Counseling, PLLC, where she provides therapy and oversees clinical operations. Dr. Moore has been a valued faculty member at Walden University since 2021, initially as Adjunct Professor and currently as Associate Professor in the Master’s-level Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. She also serves as co-coordinator for the Mental Health Ministry at her local congregation, supporting community wellness and mental health awareness.
Dr. Moore brings extensive experience working with incarcerated individuals, sex offenders, at-risk youth, clients with substance use concerns, and couples and families. She previously worked as a program therapist with an online behavioral health platform, guiding clients through structured programs designed to develop skills for managing mental health and life challenges. Known for her empathetic and strengths-based approach, Dr. Moore is dedicated to fostering growth, resilience, and healing in diverse populations, integrating her clinical expertise with a commitment to mentoring the next generation of counselors.
She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Delta State University, an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health from Mississippi State University, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Walden University.
