Courses
In the EdD Early Childhood Education specialization, you’ll build skills and progress toward your final capstone project in every course.
Disclaimers: Walden students have up to 8 years to complete their doctoral program unless they petition for an extension.
In general, students are continuously registered in the dissertation/doctoral study course until they complete their capstone project and it is approved. This usually takes longer than the minimum required terms in the dissertation/doctoral study course shell.
To complete a doctoral dissertation, students must obtain the academic approval of several independent evaluators including their committee, the University Research Reviewer, and the Institutional Review Board; pass the Form and Style Review; gain approval at the oral defense stage; and gain final approval by the Chief Academic Officer. Students must also publish their dissertation on ProQuest before their degree is conferred. Learn more about the dissertation process in the Dissertation Guidebook.

A Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a valued credential in today’s workforce. Not only does an MBA degree demonstrate a deep understanding of business, it proves you have what it takes to complete a rigorous academic program while juggling your personal and professional commitments.
More and more busy working professionals are looking at online MBA programs as a convenient way to get the business education they desire. But what’s the best online MBA program for you? And what are the right things to look for in an online MBA degree program to ensure it meets your needs? Let’s explore what you need to consider when looking at MBA programs.
Accreditation
When looking at online MBA programs, consider one that holds accreditation from a recognized accrediting body. Accreditation is a way to ensure an MBA degree program meets nationally recognized standards of quality, providing you with the skills needed to compete in today's global marketplace.
Focus Area
From entrepreneurship to international business, MBA degree programs offer a number of different specializations on which you can focus your learning. Be sure your online MBA program offers courses in an area that interests you. Some great options include specializations in Healthcare Management, Human Resource Management, and Project Management.
Student-Teacher Ratio
The lower the student-teacher ratio, the more individualized attention you’ll receive from instructors. When researching online MBA programs, be sure to investigate this. If it’s not apparent from the school’s website, call and ask.
Format
Today’s working professionals are busier than ever, which is why flexibility comes into play. Choose a university that offers their programs in flexible formats that suit your lifestyle. Online learning is one of the most popular choices, and a competency-based learning format is ideal for those who do not like set weekly deadlines.
Technology
Both on-campus and online MBA programs are dependent on technology to educate students more effectively. This is especially important for online MBA programs. From lectures and class discussions to submitting assignments and testing, an online MBA program is only as strong as the technology it employs.
Graduates
Successful MBA programs have successful graduates. Research what graduates of the program are doing with their MBA degrees. Many online MBA programs feature this information on their websites or in their alumni magazines.
