Doctor of Social Work Program Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes
Advanced clinical practice in social work involves using evidence-based assessment, intervention, and supervision strategies to support individuals, families, and communities facing complex behavioral health and social challenges. Advanced practitioners may provide clinical assessment, therapeutic intervention, case consultation, group facilitation, and supervision while applying research-informed and culturally responsive approaches to care.
In a DSW program, an Advanced Clinical Practice and Supervision specialization can help experienced social workers strengthen leadership, supervision, and practice management skills while preparing to support clinicians, oversee teams, and contribute to improved care delivery across practice settings.
The Doctor of Social Work (DSW) Advanced Clinical Practice and Supervision specialization at Walden requires 59 quarter credits to complete. Walden’s updated DSW curriculum is designed to support a more streamlined and practice-focused doctoral experience for working professionals.
With capstone work integrated throughout the program using a quality interpretive meta-synthesis (QIMS) approach, students can make consistent progress while building advanced leadership skills and contributing to the social work profession. The fully online format provides flexibility for professionals balancing career, family, and community responsibilities.
