Eligible students will receive a tuition-free subscription period (excluding technology and other applicable fees) after completing four subscription periods. The tuition reduction will be applied after the student has completed their fourth subscription period.
Completion of a subscription period requires a student to remain enrolled throughout the entire subscription period.
Tuition-free subscription periods do not count toward the number of completed subscription periods required to earn the next tuition-free period.
Initial Eligibility
- New or readmitted students who begin a Walden program in the Tempo Learning® format on or after February 1, 2023.
Continuing Eligibility
- Students will remain eligible as long as they are enrolled in an eligible program and have not withdrawn for more than a year. Changing enrollment between eligible programs does not impact completed subscription periods.
- Students who want to return to the university more than a year after their withdrawal date, and who are eligible to return, will not maintain any previously earned tuition-free subscription periods.

Please note the following discount policy changes for:
- Students who are starting a new program on August 28, 2023, or later.
- Students who have been inactive for more than a year and need to go through the enrollment process again and start on August 28, 2023, or later.
- Continuing students who change their program to one starting on August 28, 2023, or later.
If your academic program and start date allow for Walden awarded tuition discounts to be combined; Flat-rate tuition reductions like first course free, grant disbursements and scholarship disbursements will reduce tuition first, followed by percentage tuition reductions by value (highest to lowest). This does not apply to the program fee.

- Students will remain eligible as long as they are enrolled in a doctoral program and not withdrawn more than 12 months from their original start date.

- Eligible applicants accepted into an eligible degree program will be automatically awarded.
