Dr. Matarelli has been a Registered Nurse for the past 34 years, 21 of which have been executive administration serving diverse healthcare organizations in the United States and abroad. He retired from full time executive hospital administration for Johns Hopkins Medicine International in Baltimore, Maryland in January, 2014 in order to dedicate more time to teaching, global health issues, healthcare quality, and patient safety. Currently, Dr. Matarelli works full time for a healthcare communications company conducting client research in the UK and Middle East.

Dr. Matarelli's clinical practice areas of specialization are critical care and emergency nursing. Dr. Matarelli holds a Master’s degree in Nursing with a concentration in Administration and as a Medical-Surgical Clinical Nurse Specialist and a PhD in Public Health with a specialization in social and behavioral epidemiology.

Dr. Matarelli has extensive experience on an international platform in areas of organizational leadership, management, health policy, and patient safety.
