Dr. Mary Burke Givens received her doctorate in qualitative educational research after 37 years in public education as a history teacher and a school counselor. Her areas of subject matter expertise qualitative methodology, counselor education, and social foundations of education. Dr. Givens has worked as a contributing faculty member for Walden University since 2013 and is also a University Research Reviewer. She has served on numerous doctoral study committees.
Dr. Givens' research interests include the history of racial segregation, equal educational opportunity, and educational policy development. She has presented for the American Educational Research Association, the American Educational Studies Association and the Southeastern Philosophy of Education Society.
