Dr. Abernathy joined Walden University in 2014 and currently serves as a contributing professor in the Learning, Instruction, and Innovation (LII) and the Educational Technology programs. Dr. Abernathy retired from the online educational leadership and educational technology department at Lamar University. She initiated the Brazos-Sabine Consortium and consulted with 20 small districts in Texas public school to develop reading, writing, and technology implementation curriculum for K-12 grades over a ten-year period. Earlier in her career, Dr. Abernathy held positions in Texas at Hardin-Jefferson, Beaumont, Port Neches-Groves, and The University of Texas at Austin specializing in technology implementation across the whole school. Dr. Abernathy’s research interests include: STEM, Educational Leadership, Educational Technology, Technology Integration in the Classroom, K-12 Online Education, Online Higher Education, Technology Leadership, E-Portfolio Assessment, and Current Campus Level Principal Issues.
