Dr. Buchanan currently serves as Contributing Faculty at Walden University in the College of Health Sciences. As Contributing Faculty, she assists students with the dissertation process.

Dr. Buchanan has been a public health professional since 2002. As a public health professional, she has functioned in several roles, including health educator, college health services administrator, Sponsored Programs administrator, and consultant to multi-disciplinary organizations. Dr. Buchanan is passionate about grant writing and securing funding for projects that improve health outcomes and the public health workforce. To date, she has authored or co-authored over $18 million in grant proposals. She is also a frequent grant reviewer for various federal public health agencies.

Dr. Buchanan’s primary research interests are health disparities, health equity, and minority health. Commensurate with this interest, she has published approximately 15 peer-reviewed articles and 4 book chapters.
