Dr. Jimmy Lafaille, DNP, graduated from the prestigious University of Miami (UM) with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and a post graduate certificate as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP). She also achieved a post master’s certificate as a family nurse practitioner (FNP) at Barry University and obtained a master’s degree in nursing science from Florida Atlantic University (FAU). She completed her undergraduate studies in New York at Sunny Rockland Community College (RCC) and Mercy College. She received accolades while she was a doctoral student at the University of Miami (UM) when she was one of the few chosen for the Vitas Fellow Scholarship Award as well as the Aryn Rothfield Memorial Scholarship Award. In 2017, she was inducted in the Sigma Theta Tau by the University of Miami International Honors Society Chapter. She has worked in clinical practice for 22 years and practiced as a family nurse practitioner (FNP) for several years. She also has 10 years of teaching experience including 3 years as a clinical educator on the cardiology, behavioral health, pulmonary, and oncology units at JFK Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. The remainder of her teaching years involve working as a clinical supervisor and adjunct professor for the advanced nursing practice students at South University (online and on campus). Her background is diverse and includes many years of clinical experience in behavioral health, cardiology, pulmonary, orthopedic, neurology, geriatric, and clinical teaching at the university and at the hospital level. She also holds a dual board certification as an FNP from both the American National Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and an ANCC board certification as a PMHNP.

She recently started her own outpatient behavioral health practice in Boynton Beach, Florida (namely Logigue Medical Care Services, LLC ) with its mission to provide access to evidence-based, affordable, patient centered-care, and efficient behavioral health services to individuals affected by a mental health condition from age 13 to the end of life.

She will be a contributing professor at Walden University teaching advanced psychiatric mental health nursing to graduate students. However, she hopes that she will be able to contribute to the advancement of the students at Walden University using any one of her skills and experience as needed by the University.
