Licensed as a registered nurse for 25 years and has worked in various areas to include community health, public health, medical-surgical, and operating room. An experienced nurse educator of 15 years, Dr. Howe is a university professor teaching in the Department of Nursing, Darton College of Health Professions at Albany State University. She has taught a variety of clinical and theory courses at the associate, baccalaureate, and masters levels and has considerable experience with online course development and teaching. Leadership roles include program director, Department Chair, and Department Dean. She has presented extensively on topics related to technology use in classroom and online teaching and learning and researched and written on faculty satisfaction teaching online. Experience in leading and committee membership of associate and baccalaureate nursing program initial and ongoing accreditation activities, university regional accreditation, and on-site program reviewer with CNEA. Dr. Howe is an NLN-certified nurse educator and NLN member school Ambassador. At Walden University, Dr. Howe is contributing faculty teaching Nursing Informatics with the MSN programs since 2010.

Research interest includes faculty satisfaction teaching online. As a former online student, full-time online faculty member, creator of online nursing programming, and former nursing department program director of an online RN to BSN program, Dr. Howe has been involved in all areas regarding online education. Understanding the issues faculty face when teaching online and the needed administration support is important in providing quality online education. Dr. Howe has published previous research and is currently writing an open education resource (OER) textbook on the U.S. Healthcare System. An international study has recently been completed regarding faculty satisfaction teaching online in the time of COVID-19.
